Discover Milwaukee: Perfect Weekend Itinerary
While we’ve only just scratched the surface of Wisconsin, we did spend an awesome weekend in Milwaukee which was the perfect town for a weekend get away!
This trip was taken June 2021

We decided to drive 6 hours to Milwaukee for a weekend! 😀 Probably a crazy idea, but we fit a lot of fun into our weekend! Here’s a quick overview of what we did. We have 2 kids, ages 10 and 12 and we love exploring new places.
We arrived Friday evening to our hotel outside of the city, Embassy Suites and didn’t do much, just enjoyed the hotel!
Saturday was our big day! We started the day at the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory. We toured the domes and really enjoyed the different environments they’ve created there. This was a fairly quick stop but the kids really enjoyed it.

Next up, we headed down to the waterfront near the art museum and walked around, checking out the views of the lake. We parked really close to Discovery World, so we headed there next. This was the kids favorite stop as it was a kids museum and aquarium all in one. They really enjoyed it.

After all that activity we were ready for lunch and headed to the Safehouse for lunch. This was such a good time. You have to enter through a secret door, figure out the secret password, then enter through these fun doors before getting to your table. The entire restaurant had things to look at, activities to do, and was so much fun. The food was good too and we had a great time.

Next up – we headed to the Public Market and wandered around for a bit. Enjoyed some coffee, got some treats, and some snacks for the following day.

Lastly on Saturday, we headed to the baseball game. Our home team, the Reds were visiting Milwaukee so we got some tickets and went to the game. The stadium was really nice and we enjoyed ourselves. After the game, way too late, we headed to Kopps Frozen Yogurt for some ice cream which was delicious!

The next morning, we did one final drive around the city, checking out the basketball arena before heading out. We stopped at Mars Cheese Castle right outside of town too and grabbed some delicious cheese to take home with us! It was a bit of a whirlwind trip but we were so glad we made it up to enjoy this beautiful city!
