Check out the amazing nature and waterfalls in Idaho!
Please are sleeping on the great state of Idaho! We had some fun exploring a few towns and seeing the natural beauty of Idaho, and can’t wait to go back to see more!

Perrine Coulee Falls – Twin Falls, ID
This might be one of the coolest waterfalls we’ve come across – and…. it’s free, and right off the side of the road!
We parked our car on the roadside right by the waterfall, and in a few quick steps, were already there. You kind of sneak behind a tree to get to the little path. It’s a bit steep to get down there, but not scary. What’s especially amazing about this waterfall is that you can walk behind it. The pictures don’t quite do it justice – it’s enormous!
You can walk behind the waterfall to the other side and also get amazing views out towards the river the whole time.

Centennial Waterfront Park – Twin Falls, ID
Just down the street is a great little park. It has a playground, nice views and makes for a great spot for a picnic. We stayed here just briefly to see the Snake River (which we would be rafting later in the week) and the giant Perrine Memorial Bridge.
You can also see where Evel Knievel attempted to jump across the gorge on a steam powered rocket back in 1974. Apparently – he didn’t make it and the parachute opened prematurely. It was a huge canyon, so that is crazy.

Shoshone Falls – Twin Falls, ID
Next up … Shoshone Falls! Another amazing waterfall steps from the parking lot. The water was running really well when we were there, sometimes it’s a bit more dry. We saw people kayaking near the base of the falls which looked super fun.

Dierkes Lake – Twin Falls, ID
About a minute down the road was our final stop in Twin Falls. This lake was great, with a nice parking lot, restrooms, grassy lawn and swimming area. There was even a little cliff jumping spot – which is what we were there for. This was our kids first time cliff jumping and they loved it 🙂

Idaho Falls, ID
Our overnight location for this trip was in Idaho Falls. The town was cute and we got a hotel right on the Snake River. We enjoyed taking a walk along the path to the waterfall in the morning. It’s manmade, so not as exciting as others, but made for a nice morning stroll.

Mesa Falls, ID
Last quick stop in our days filled with waterfalls – Mesa Falls!

Lava Hot Springs, ID
This was a random stop for us on our drive back to Salt Lake City. This small town is known for their hot springs (way too hot today for us to try that!) and also rafting down the river. I literally have no idea if rafting is an every day thing in this town, or a weekend thing, or a special occasion. All I know is, when we arrived, it appeared that the entire town was out rafting. My husband and kids rented a raft from someone on the street, then you put in at the top of the river in town and float down. Then… do it again 😀 When I tell you that my husband still talks about this place 5 years later, I’m not joking!
