These might be the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever seen!
Wow – does Curacao have some amazing beaches. We visited Curacao as part of a 12 night cruise through the ABC islands and South America. We had 12 hours on the beautiful island and it did not disappoint. None of these pictures are altered at all!
This trip took place December 2022
We spent the morning in Curacao exploring the town. From the port, it is super walkable down a nice, paved path along the ocean. There was some green space where iguanas were running around. Then we made it to a nice little shopping area. The highlight was definitely the colorful buildings on the water! It was actually Christmas day when we were there, so it was really interesting being in such a warm place over Christmas!
During our afternoon, we booked a private tour with DLN Excursions.
Wow, what a great tour! This tour was almost too good to be true – a private tour for a completely fair price and we saw so much of the island. Nathan was our guide for the day and we learned so much from him. They had an issue where their ATV was in the shop unexpectedly but he was so apologetic and decided to ask if we would be OK to come in a regular car – we quickly said yes, because we did not want to miss this experience on our one day in Curacao on our cruise ship. I’m sure the experience with the ATV’s is even better.
From the very beginning we talked about what things we really want to see. They have a set itinerary but are willing to customize based on interests. I mentioned that my son was very interested in seeing the beach with sea turtles so we went there first to get our best sighting of it. We saw so many turtles!
Next he took us to a very famous beach that was the most beautiful beach we’ve ever seen! There was cliff jumping and nice beach.
We then went to a few local beaches and Nathan brought out some chairs for us to sit in. He was super accommodating, letting us stay longer or shorter at different places based on our interest. He was almost too accommodating, I’m sure we went over the allotted time and I was hoping he would tell us approximately how much time we had so we didn’t take advantage, unknowingly 🙂 He was great with our kids, talking to them and sharing information about the island and life on the island.
He then took us to a restaurant with great views, ordered all the food for us so we could try some local dishes. We really enjoyed getting to try some things we wouldn’t normally order (e.g. goat). There was also an insane cliff jump at the restaurant if you’re crazy like my husband 🙂
Lastly I mentioned that we would love to see the beach with the pigs so we tried to find them on the way back to the cruise ship, but no luck. He even stopped at an area with flamingos for us to see. We just had the most amazing day. Easy pickup and drop off, learned so much and had an amazing time. I would highly recommend this. Great to get away from the tourist beaches.
